Mission Statement The application “War of the roses” is a game which is easy to learn but hard to master. It is ported to the iPhone from the classic 2-player board game “War of the roses” or in German “Rosenkönig”. It has an interesting historical background: The “wars of the roses” were a series of dynastic civil wars in the middle ages for the throne of England between the houses Lancaster (red) and York (white).
This is transferred to the game by setting the goal for every player to occupy as many fields of the board as possible. This is done by playing a card (which tells the player how many steps he can go into a determined direction) and placing a token on the target field. The tokens are red and white roses. The game ends if none of the players can make a move and/or all tokens have been played. The player who has the highest score wins. The score is calculated by squaring the connected tokens.
